The Blueback herring
The Blueback Herring belongs to the Clupeidae Family. They reach a maximum size of about 40 centimeters and are assumed to live up to 8 years. They spawn from mid-March to the end of May. The Blueback herring can be fished all year round. These fish are silvery in color, have a series of scutes along their bellies and are characterized by a deep blue-green back. What distinguish this fish the most from other species is the black to dark color of its peritoneum (the mucous membrane of the abdominal cavity). It is one of the "distinctive" North American shads. They are often confused with alewives because it is difficult to differentiate between blue shad and alewife and, together, these two species are often considered collectively as "river herring". Female have larger eyes, greater body depth and a pearl to peritoneal white lining.

The Chum Salmon belongs to the Salmonidae family. It can reach 100 cm for a maximum weight of 15 kg. It has a lifespan of 3 to 5 years. The breeding period depends on the location. It can be fished all year round. The body of chum salmon is deeper than most salmonidae species. Like other species in the Pacific, the anal fin has 12 to 20 rays, compared to a maximum of 12 in European species. The chum salmon has a silvery blue-green coloring with some indistinct spots in a darker shade and a rather paler belly. When they move in fresh water, their color changes to dark olive green and the belly color intensifies. When adults are about to spawn, they have purple streaks near the caudal peduncle, darker towards the tail. Breeding males generally develop an extended snout or kype, their lower fins turn white and their teeth are larger.

The Brook Trout belongs to the Salmonidae family. The average size of the brook trout is 50 cm and the weight only exceptionally exceeds 7 kg. It has a longevity of 5 years. It reproduces in autumn. It is fished from April to September. Its body is fusiform, laterally compressed, and slender. Its general shape is reminiscent of trout, although a little more massive. The body is arched at the dorsal fin. It has a small but stocky head with a widely split mouth, including teeth on the jaws, tongue and palate. On the body, the scales are small and thin. The Brook trout have two dorsal fins, one of which is characteristic of Salmonids. The color is distributed differently over the body: the back is rather dark brown, with lighter mottling and covered with a network of very close yellow spots. The sides have a beautiful light brown color, sometimes olive green. They also have yellow spots, less tightened. Round and red spots can also be seen on the sides. The color of the belly varies from white to pink, but can be pale yellow to dark red. It all depends on the environment in which it operates. Populations living near the bottom are paler than those living in open water, rather colorful. In males, the livery becomes bright orange during the breeding season. Finally, the pectoral, pelvic and anal fins are bordered by a white border, specific to the genus Salvelinus, highlighted here by a black band.

The King Mackerel belongs to the Scombridae family. The king mackerel is a medium-sized fish, generally weighing between 5 and 14 kg, but weighing more than 40 kg. Females can live up to 14 years, and males up to 11 years. It spawns from May to September. It can be fished from April to December. Unlike other members of Scombridae, mackerel do not have a black area on the front of the first dorsal fin. The mackerel king has 12 to 18 spines in his first dorsal fin; 15-18 rays in the second dorsal fin, followed by 7-10 pinnacles; and 21-23 rays in the pectoral fin. Its body is about five times larger than its head and about six times longer than its depth. The whole body is covered with rudimentary scales, except for its pectoral fin. The lateral line drops abruptly after the second dorsal fin, then continues to the tail, distinguishing it from red mackerel (Scomberomorus regalis). The king mackerel also lacks scales on the pectoral fins, as does the Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus maculatus), unlike the red mackerel which has scales extending over the pectoral fin. The king mackerel is a silver fish with indistinct bars or spots on the side. The dorsal surface is black with iridescent tones of blue and green. Young fish have small bronze spots on 5 or 6 irregular rows.

The Atlantic Sharpnose Shark belongs to the Carcharhinidae family. The average size of the Atlantic Sharpnose Shark is 90 to 99 cm. Their maximum size is 120 cm. In captivity it can live up to 4 years. The young are usually born in June. The Atlantic Sharpnose Shark can be fished all year round. The Atlantic Sharpnose Shark has a long snout and labial furrows that surround its mouth. The triangular teeth with smooth edges are identical on the upper and lower jaws. The livery of the Atlantic Sharpnose Shark can be brown, olive grey or blue grey, turning white on its belly. Adults may have some white spots, and in smaller individuals the edges of the dorsal fins and caudal fin are often black.
