The Black Drum
The Black Drum belongs to the Sciaenidae family. The adult can reach 1.55 meters for 45 kg. They spawn from April to June. They can live for about 50 years. It can be fished all year round. The black drum is a stocky fish with a high backrest and many barbells or whiskers under the lower jaw. Younger fish have four or five dark vertical stripes on their sides, but these vanish with age. Older fish have a white belly, but the color of the back and sides can vary considerably. Fish in Gulf waters often lack color and are light grey or silvery. The Red Porgy belongs to the Sparidae family. The Red porgy can reach a maximum of 80 cm. The size of the individuals visible in diving is rather 15 to 40 cm. it has a lifespan of 18 years. It is a silvery fish with pink reflections, more or less dark, on the back. The sides are sometimes decorated with blue dots. The caudal fin, dark pink in color, is indented with tips lined with bluish white. All fins can have more or less blue reflections. The back is iridescent bluish green with silvery sides and belly. A semi-lateral bronze band extends from the pectoral fin to the base of the caudal fin. There are several rows of yellow-orange streaks with yellow spots forming lines above and below the sideband. The front third of the first dorsal fin is bluish black.
