The Dog Snapper
The Dog Snapper belongs to the Lutjanidae family. With an average length of 60 cm, the adult snapper can reach a maximum length of 74 cm. The maximum known weight for this snapper is 9.1 kg. Sexual maturity is achieved at lengths of 30 to 40 cm. The maximum lifespan recorded was about 29 years. It breeds in March. It is fished in March, April, July, August, November and December. This snapper has a relatively deep body, with long pectoral fins, an emarginated or slightly forked caudal fin, a rounded anal fin and a double dorsal fin. Dog snappers have an olive green top and back, sometimes with narrow, pale bars. The lower sides and belly are light red and coppery. There is a white triangular bar under the lower edge of the eyes. The pectoral, ventral, anal and distal fins of the dorsal and caudal fins are reddish, while the rest of the dorsal and caudal fins are olive green. The young have a horizontal blue line under the eye and through the operculum, which turns into a row of spots on adults.

The scamp fish belongs to the Serranidae family. Its maximum size is 7.8 kg for more than 100 cm. It has a lifespan of about 48 years. It spawns from April to May. It can be fished all year round. It has a light grey or brown color, large adults have elongated caudal rays and reddish brown spots on the sides that tend to be grouped in lines. It also has yellow spots around the corners of the mouth. It is linked to the gag and other slender groupers. Naughty animals are identified by their pronounced and pronounced dorsal and anal ray extensions, a more concave head profile and by their color. Scamps have a light brown to greyish brown body covered with well defined and separated black spots, which measure about 0.31 cm.

Unlike other members of Scombridae, mackerel do not have a black area on the front of the first dorsal fin. Its body is about five times larger than its head and about six times longer than its depth. The whole body is covered with rudimentary scales, except for its pectoral fin. The king mackerel also lacks scales on the pectoral fins, as does the Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus maculatus), unlike the red mackerel which has scales extending over the pectoral fin. The king mackerel is a silver fish with indistinct bars or spots on the side. The dorsal surface is black with iridescent tones of blue and green. Young fish have small bronze spots on 5 or 6 irregular rows.

The Great Barracuda belongs to the Sphyraenidae family. Adult specimens are generally between 60 and 100 cm long and weigh between 2.5 and 9.0 kg. It has a life span of 14 years. They are thought to spawn in the spring. It can be fished all year round. The large barracuda has a slim, streamlined body that is round in the middle. The top of the head between the eyes is almost flat and the mouth is large. It contains many large pointed teeth and a protruding lower jaw. The ends of the pectoral fins extend to the origin of the pelvic fins. The spiny and soft dorsal fins are largely separated and the double emarginated caudal fin has pale tips on each lobe. The body color of the great barracuda is brownish grey or bluish on the back and top, with a dominant greenish-green color ranging from grey to silver on the sides and a white belly. The upper surface can have between 18 and 23 dark bars, most often observed when the fish is resting or on a mixed substrate. The black spots on the lower sides of the great barracuda distinguish it from other barracuda species. The second dorsal fin, anal fin and caudal fin are purple to black with whitish tips.

The Gag fish belongs to the Serranidae family. The gag fish can reach a maximum total length of 1.45 m and a maximum weight of 36.5 kg. This species has a life span of 16 years. They breed from January to May. They can be fished from June to December. The gag fish is typical of groupers with an elongated oblong body. The head is long while the mouth is large with a protruding lower jaw. The bases of the dorsal and anal fins are covered with thick skin and scales. The caudal fin is wide and has a slightly concave margin. The body color of the gag fish depends on the sex and age of the fish. Juveniles and mature females are pale grey to greyish brown with dark spots and worm-shaped marks giving a marbled appearance. The caudal, anal and pelvic fins have dark blue outer margins. Large mature males are pale to medium grey in color, with barely visible cross-links below the dorsal fin. The ventral surface is dark grey to black. The soft dorsal fin, caudal fin, pectoral and pelvic fins also range from dark grey to black, while the margins of the anal and caudal fins are white.
