The Tarpon
The Tarpon belongs to the Megalopidae family. The female tarpon can reach more than 2.5 m in length and weigh nearly 161 kg, the males being generally smaller. Males live longer than 30 years, while females can live longer than 50 years. They breed from May to July. It is generally fished during the spawning season. Externally, the almost vertical silvery sides made of large scales are the most distinctive feature of the tarpon. The tarpon has an upper mouth and the lower mandible extends well beyond the gape. The fins do not contain thorns, but are all made of soft rays. The dorsal fin is high forward and contains 13-15 rays of light, the last ray of which is very elongated into a thick filament. Dorsally, the tarpon usually appears from dark blue to greenish black. However, the color may appear brownish or coppery for individuals living in inland waters. Dorsal and caudal fins have dark edges and often appear dark.

The Alligator Gar belongs to the Lepisosteidae family. In its adult form, it can measure up to three meters long and weigh up to 140 kilograms. It breeds in spring. It can be fished all year round. Alligator gar are elongated fish with a long, narrow snout. Their scales form a kind of armor, protecting them from other predators, the scales are similar in hardness to our nails, hard as keratin. They are also sharp, never brush a sharp-edged club fish. These fish have the swim bladder modified into a gas bladder, it allows them to breathe at the surface.

The Razorback Sucker belongs to the Catostomidae family. It is a relatively large catostomidae, reaching more than 91 cm in length and weighing 5 to 6 kg. It has a lifespan of 50 years. It nests from January to June. It cannot be fished because of its status as an endangered species. Razorback suckers are similar to other Catostomidae, with the exception of two main characteristics. The most characteristic features of the razorback sucker are a pronounced edge made of neural and internal bone that extends from the head to the dorsal fins, as well as elongated filaments on the gills. The Lane Snapper belongs to the Lutjanidae family. Lane snappers have an average length of 36 cm and a maximum length of 50 cm. Sexual maturity is achieved at lengths of 10 to 23 cm. The maximum estimated age of the snapper is 10 years. Their spawning period depends on the location. It can be fished in late spring and early summer. The snapper has a deep body and a pointed snout. It has a double dorsal fin, with a curved anal fin and short pectoral fins. The caudal fin is emarginated to slightly forked. Lane snapper has two color phases.
